A walk to remember by Bhuvi Patil

"Bhuvi Patil: 2nd prize winner - "Nature Wordsmiths Workshop"

I never knew I could enjoy a walk in nature as much as I did today. The scent of the wet soil, the chattering of birds, the cool breeze, and the greenery all around – this place is surely every nature lover’s dream.

Lively shades of green, pink and yellow were on display. Humongous trees were spread all across the landscape. The trees filtering the sunlight gave me a sense of being protected from the sun while still being in touch with the sun. The trees were swaying in the breeze and the air was filled with birdsong. Different birds – the Coppersmith barbet and the Canary-flycatcher – were visible. Seasonal plants such as the yellow rainwater lilies were present everywhere.

The sound of the gushing water made me feel one with the surroundings. Lily pads and lotuses covering the entire surface of the water made me aware that water was present though unseen.

The sweet scent of flowers seemed familiar and yet unknown. The falling leaves from the trees gave me a feeling of calmness and as I got ready to depart, I felt that though I had walked through the whole garden, I had left much unexplored.
